Plaster Skimming in County Armagh

Skimming is the fine finishing coat that turns rough, patchy or freshly boarded walls into a smooth, paint-ready surface. If you need a plasterer to skim a room in County Armagh, we tape and scrim the joints, apply the skim in tight even coats and leave a glass-smooth finish on both walls and ceilings. Skimming is ideal after new plasterboard has gone up, for covering tired or artexed walls, or for tidying up a room after building work, and it makes a huge difference to how a finished room looks.

What is skimming?
Skimming is a thin finishing coat of plaster, usually a couple of millimetres thick, applied over plasterboard or existing walls to leave a smooth surface ready for painting.

Can you skim over artex or old walls?
Yes. We prepare and skim over artexed, tired or uneven walls to give them a fresh, smooth finish without the mess of removing everything first.

How soon can I paint a freshly skimmed wall?
Fresh skim generally needs a few days to dry out fully before painting. We will advise on timings for your particular job and conditions.
